Happy NYE everyone! Today I want to share some pictures from Christmas Day because it was one of my favorite Christmases ever.

From sitting by the fire playing games to sliding around on the lake, it was all so fun. At first, we didn’t know if the lake was thick enough to skate on yet, but my brothers discovered that the ice was 3 inches thick right behind the house so they took Beckett, and my little sister outback to play ice hockey. I stayed inside at first because I didn’t want to get cold, but after watching them for awhile I couldn’t help myself! I borrowed some warm (and cute) accessories and grabbed Dakota (our pup). I had to be careful– being pregnant and all– so I mainly stayed ashore and played fetch with Dakota out onto the ice. But it turns out 101 Dalmatians does a good job of illustrating how dogs look on ice… so we finished our game of fetch in the yard.

Another highlight of Christmas was going for a walk in the woods with my mom, Sarah, and Dakota. We got to see trees eaten by a beaver and lots of deer prints. It was such a beautiful day! It may not have been the whitest Christmas, but it was definitely one for the books!  With 2016 creeping up on me today, I can’t help but reflect on how blessed 0ur little family is to have such great families behind us. Who has blessed you this year?

Cape: Topshop, Sweater: sold out (similar by Halogen), Blouse: J. Crew (old), Mittens: home made— similar to these Kate Spade, Neck bow: vintage from my grandma (but similar here), Earrings: Kate Spade, Handbag: Kate Spade, Leggings: Hue, Boots: (old by Sam Edelman) but similar here by Rebecca Minkoff

I hope your Christmas was as happy as ours! We had a super fun time at my parents’ house where we played with Kota (our sweet pup) on the lake and hung out with my siblings. We also did a gift exchange with the hubby’s family where my super sweet mother-in-law gave me this Topshop cape because she noticed my belly is getting too big for my usual coat! Embarrassing. But I truly love this cape she picked out for me because it is so easy to put on and it’ll fit no matter how big this little one gets.

These boots are my favs. I saw them a few years ago from Piperlime and absolutely had to have them. I call them my Carrie Underwood boots because they remind me of something she would wear, but they are really difficult to match to an outfit. I usually pull them out at New Years (and sometimes Christmas) because the studs (and spurs) make them really difficult to match to an outfit. So this year I plan to wear them out on New Years with a more casual outfit like this sweater + legging combination. Do you have any special New Years outfits?

Tip: Wear statement pieces like these boots with a very limited color palette & simple pieces to keep them looking classy– not gaudy.

Have a great day!

Sweater: Valette (sold out) similar here, Jeans: Jag Jeans (not maternity and so comfy!), Booties: similar Franco Sarto, Coat: similar Laundry by Shelli Segal, Handbag: Kate Spade(similar)

Guess what! Today marks the 20 week mark of this pregnancy! Yesterday was our ultrasound appointment and everything looked really good! Our little one has the cutest feet and we saw the sweetest profile (that little nose is so adorable!!) Also, he or she is an active little bugger. The arms and legs were moving around the ENTIRE time.
As you might know, 20 weeks is that special ultrasound where you can find out the gender. We chose to go the envelope route so we can find out on our own time! So I can say we will know soon and we can hardly wait!

Anyway, dressing has been a huge challenge lately. I don’t really know how to maternity shop, plus, I don’t want to add a ton of maternity pieces to my wardrobe because 1) this is temporary and 2) I’m not very big yet so I would just have to shop again later (normally that doesn’t sound too bad, but we’ve had a ton of random expenses lately sooooo I’ll wait and just keep wearing the same things on rotation for awhile 🙈). however, a few weeks ago, i finally made a trip to our local Nordstrom Rack and bought some leggings and oversized sweaters, which have been the perfect “maternity” uniform for me so far. I especially love this blue sweater because it’s comfy, long enough to cover my butt, and I can wear it post-baby. I give it an A+!

Since we didn’t host thanksgiving this year we decided to get those Christmas decorations up early. Our festive decor included yards of Menards garland and Christmas lights along with loads of Santa statues and Christmas tree ornaments!

But The most difficult part of decorating for Christmas before thanksgiving had been not dressing like it’s Christmas to match the holiday spirit (and songs) that are floating about the air at our house. Plus, dressing my growing bump had been a challenge because I’m too stubborn to wear/buy maternity clothes with such a little belly!

Anyway, I found a way to look like Mrs. Claus in a fashionable way and I’m loving it!

Just a few more weeks till Christmas!!!

Christmas is right around the corner, cards are in the mail, and Christmas shopping is underway. But with all of the busyness, we can’t help but be thankful for all of the blessings in our life right now. And we want to share one of those blessings with you today. We’re super excited to announce that we’re expecting our first baby in Spring 2016!

I’m so thankful for how supportive and wonderful Beckett is to me (and Kota and Elsa girl) and I can’t wait to see him as a daddy! He puts up with all of my silliness, listens to me for hours while I talk about random things, takes pictures of me for this frivolous hobby of mine, and leads our little family in the most loving way. Thanks for following along with us. We can’t wait to share these next few months with you! Merry Christmas everyone!

Sweater: similar color/style or another long sweater  that I recommend || Coat: old from Calvin Klein, very similar to this one, but in charcoal grey || Necklace: old, but this one’s magical 🙂 || Leggings: HUE || Boots: old, similar from L.L. Bean || Scarf: Burberry || Gloves: mine, similar to these Kate Spade mittens

This week we had our first snow that actually stuck! We were so excited that we took our pup, Dakota outside and played in the snow. She had so much fun fetching the ball and running around that she wouldn’t come inside when we were ready! I had to grab the ball and make her chase me inside!

Sorry about the low-quality pictures. They are not our finest, but we had a TON of fun taking them, which is what really counts anyway! I recently found this Sweater at Nordstrom Rack and it is $27 cashmere, a perfect fit, and super cozy so I really wanted to share it because it was such a great find! Unfortunately, it was such a good deal that it sold out. 😦 So I found a similar one that you can find here or at your local Khol’s!

Happy Thursday!

Kellie
