a summer treat

** edited: i lost some of the photos off of the site from technical difficulties so some are missing. 😦

1. Start with the right BBQ sauce. This Tripple Crown Organic is our new favorite. It’s smoky flavor isn’t too sweet or too smoky.

2. Spread out your crust. It’s ok to get a little creative! 😉

(I like the pre-made kind like this one from Cub)…

3. Drizzle the BBQ sauce onto the crust.

(Spread the love)…

4. Grill the chicken breast and add a little sauce to it. I’ve used pre-cooked frozen chicken before, but it was rubbery and gross so now I just cook a bunch of chicken all at once and use some for pizza, some for chicken salad, and some for chicken sandwiches.

5. Chop up half an onion or more depending on how much you like onion… Actually maybe just use 1/4 of the onion unless you LOVE onions like we do here.

Are you crying yet? 😂

6. Add the onion to the chicken and mix it up. It looks a little gross, but it helps to infuse the flavor with the chicken.

Beckett REALLY likes BBQ sauce so I always mix it I again at this point.

7. Spread the chicken and onion mixture on the crust.

9. Add cheese.

10. And kale or spinach…

11. Then add more cheese… Parmesan cheese to be exact!

12. Bake for 10 minutes at 375 (or as directed on crust package/recipe).

My husband is obsessed with barbecue chicken pizza (or BBQ chicken anything for that matter). So I’m constantly on the lookout for a great new BBQ sauce to try. So far we like Sweet Baby Ray’s, but that is a little too sweet sometimes. When I found this Triple Crown Organic BBQ Sauce on The VOICE Community, I knew I had to order it. I’ve mentioned the site where I got it before, but in case you missed it, VOICE is an online shopping site that brings you locally (MN) made items with a percentage being donated to a featured charity of your choice. I love the concept of shopping and having the proceeds go toward a good cause so as soon as I saw them I knew I wanted to share!

I made this pizza and ice cream treat for Father’s Day. The drinks are chai tea lattes (Yum).💙 let me know if you try this pizza! It was really good if I may say so myself! 😜

Dress: BooHoo | Sandals: Rebecca Minkoff and pink (another style here) | Clutch: Asos, sold out (similar clutch here) | Sunnies: Target (similar) | Earrings: Target (similar)

If nothing else I have the half bun thing down to a t. 🙂 but seriously this dress is so fun for the summer. And it’s flattering since its flowy in all the right places.

This weekend was wonderful since we spent some fun times with my family cruising the lake and hanging out. Summertime makes me happy and it’s even better now that we can spend it as a family of three.

What about summer makes you happy?

for the 4th…

Dress: Old Navy | Handbag: Dooney & Bourke, old (similar) | Sunnies: Target, sold out (THESE ARE SUPER CUTE THOUGH) | Earrings: Target, old (similar here) | Lipstick: NYX Matte | Sandals: Rebecca Minkoff (another slightly different pair here) |

Beckett’s Shirt: Old Navy

Wolfgang’s Overalls: Old Navy (not exact) (a girl version too!) | Another 4th of July outfit idea for baby boys: Flag shorts and shirt combo

Most days we still cannot believe we have a baby. We are a family and along with that comes the responsibility of every mom: making the whole family coordinate in order to embarrass children for years to come. I have nightmares about the matching jumpers and hair ribbons my mom made my sisters and me wear. I’m kidding, we were… cute…

What I did:

The idea started with this Old Navy dress that I thought would be perfect for a day of family, fireworks, s’mores, and watermelon. Then I found the chambray overalls for Wolfie and the shirt for Beckett.

How to get the look:

For you: Start with a chambray base outfit. Add red lipstick and white accessories. Done. It’s super simple and shows patriotism without actually BECOMING a flag.

For the little ones: All the little one needs is the chambray outfit. A little girl would be cute with red or maroon sandals too.

For your man: Have him wear a chambray shirt with denim, tan, white, or maroon shorts (or trunks). Add a pair of sandals or boat shoes and he’s ready!

Hopefully these outfits can help inspire your family’s 4th of July look without whipping out the old flag shirts again this year! 🙂

hot days, cold shoulders

Top: BooHoo | Shorts: American Eagle | Sandals: Nordstrom Rack (similar by Dune) | Earrings: Target, sold out (similar by Carolee)

About the look:

This shirt is a little trendier than I usually like to look, there’s something about a nice classic shirt, but this shirt seemed oddly interesting and daring so I took the leap and ordered it. There was a 50% off deal at the moment. That sale is over now, but check the top banner of BooHoo if you are looking to purchase anything because they have tons of sales.

What I did:

This shirt would go well with shorts that are fitted and a little longer than mine were. I tried to wear this top with my longer denim shorts, but they were still too tight so I opted for the distressed denim. I wore a half bun again so that I didn’t look too serious, but I think this outfit might look better with straight, grunge hair so it doesn’t look like I tried. When the weather gets a little colder I plan to wear the shirt with tight skinny jeans to offset the oversized shirt.

What to do:

Don’t overdo it in the accessories and hair department for a top like this. Wear tighter pants/shorts on the bottom or tuck the shirt in to balance the bagginess. If wearing shorts, make sure they’re short, but they don’t need to be as short as mine. Keep shoes flat, but don’t be afraid to add a fun lip or jewelry. If older, opt for a less revealing top, but achieve the same look by wearing a baggy checked button-down. Then spice things up with glam accessories.

shortalls for long days

Shortalls: Old Navy | Shirt: sequin ampersand, purchased in Sweden (similar by Avenue, Gameday Coutureand F21) | Heels: Glint, similar from Ralph Lauren (on 6pm.com), Dorothy Perkins sandal, and Asos (each are a good price!) | Shoulderbag: Chanel from Guilt, similar Chanel from The Real Real and a Rebecca Minkoff dupe that’s really nice for way less!

About these shortalls:

Overalls and shortalls are so cute that I had to help myself to a pair with my Old Navy rewards points. These were the best fitting inexpensive pair I could find. I like that they are not too short and that they hug my hips without being too tight. I got a size medium and they fit perfectly. They fit like a size 8-10, which is great because I’m still carrying about 20 lbs. of baby weight, mostly in my hips. I especially like how the classic overalls have been tweaked to be flattering and feminine. These are certainly not your pair from the 90s… or the early 2000s… or any other overalls era!

What I did:

The shortalls had me feeling playful so I opted for a “half bun” (a hun…?), but I didn’t want to look like a child so I elevated the look with these 2.5 inch satin heels (cheesy pun intended). Adding the classic Chanel handbag and a relatively low heel made the outfit feel sophisticated instead of hoochie mama. 😉

Now you try!

tbe apparel tbe apparel tbe apparel tbe apparel tbe apparel tbe apparel tbe apparel Shirt: “Hope” from The Blue Envelope | Skirt: Ann Taylor outlet, old (similar from Charlotte RusseAsos, Vince Camuto, Calvin Klein, Style Stalker from Guilt, and CeCe) | Shoes: Nine West (also featured here) and sandal here | Sunglasses: Target | Earrings: Target, old (similar Bauble Bar, Lydell NYC from Neiman Marcus, Emily & Ashley for Neiman Marcus, and Kate Spade)

I love this shirt from The Blue Envelope because it’s such a good reminder to me. Having slightly pessimistic tendencies I can find a zillion ways to get distracted from the hope that we have in Christ so a little reminder is always nice!

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1:3‬ ‭ESV

‬‬Enough of that though because I also wanted to mention how much I like the fabric of these shirts (including my hubby’s tee from yesterday’s post)! It feels high quality and has a really cool texture. The fabric also holds its shape really well so I like to wear this shirt as a way to look casual, but with an elevated flair.

Tell me what you think! What is your favorite thing at The Blue Envelope
