Hello friends! There’s some new art up on the homepage and I’m especially excited about it! February is already halfway gone– how is that possible?! This month I am thankful for good health, lots of play time with the kids, and “us time” with the hubby!
I’m proud to say ClassyArtistBox.com has been growing like crazy since December!! If you aren’t familiar with what we’re doing over there, basically I started a monthly art box where I send out art supplies and a lesson each month! If you’re interested, we’d love to have you subscribe!
Here’s a preview of some of our projects coming out this March:
The Rainbow Abstract and Groovy Giraffe (below) are both new! The Abstract is an actual painting that would be a gorgeous statement piece in your home and the giraffe is a first of its kind giraffe print. I only did print editions of the watercolor giraffe so I could manipulate the background and offer a few options with that so let me know what you think of the print-only art format below!
I paired this tee with my red wool jacket that was my grandma’s. So clearly you can’t find that one anymore, but luckily I found a similar one that I’ll link herehttp://bit.ly/2lxtOcf!
This photo was taken earlier this month at our local mid-morning stomping ground, Barnes & Noble. Usually I work while Beckett walks around with Wellesley. I like it because it’s a nice change of scenery. Beckett likes it because, well, books. 🙂
I wanted to say thank you on here for the outpouring of love and support my business, ClassyArtistBox.com has gotten lately. It is such a blessing to have you all cheering me on, ordering, sharing, and talking us up. Sometimes I feel so alone trying to run an online business and it feels so good when I hear positive feedback & feel the love. Along with the love and support of my family, it’s what keeps driving me.
Speaking of family, my little Wellesley Bea randomly came down with quite the bug today. She seemed totally normal all morning and then around 10AM she started getting cuddly and sleepy so naturally, I napped & cuddled her until I woke up around noon and realized she was super warm. Long story short, she has a fever and has been vomiting. It makes me so sad to see my kids sick. 😭 If you think of it, we would absolutely love prayers that she would feel better soon.
The fever/vomiting combo reminded me of when Wolfgang had strep at this age and it went misdiagnosed for so long that an ER dr told us it could have been really bad if we hadn’t brought Wolfie back and insisted on a strep test. He was totally lethargic and the fever reducers had stopped working. So we took Wellesley in right away today to rule out strep.
Here is a picture of the kids the other day.
The love to “work” on their computers in their cubicle. Haha
I have been meaning to share this leopard teddy sweater with you all for so long, but the problem is that whenever I put it on we are either too busy to snap a picture or I feel so cozy I just want to nap!
The sweater is from Shein and you can either click on the links I made on the words or head to the Shein.com/us website and use the search ID 830253. Literally $15 + my discount and free shipping right now! How’s that for Black Friday Deals?!
Don’t forget that Shein is also offering my readers an exclusive discount: Q4TheClassy15 (Extra 15% off any purchase, valid from October 1st- December 31th, only US site: https://us.shein.com)
I was looking through my closet last night and realized that by now, most of the shirts I own are Shein brand because whenever I purge my closet, I keep my favorites!
It’s funny how that works. I used to have a bunch of designer sweaters + tops, but as I try to simplify I find myself keeping things I feel comfortable wearing. I tend to keep things that are comfortable, inexpensive, and chic.
2: Cool unique rings
This OBJEKTS store ring in white stone with gold is giving me all the feels this holiday season!
I have to admit though, the rainbow stone version is pretty rad too!
3: Personalized Tumblers
These Starbucks inspired coffee mugs from Etsy are so cute with the animal print! I looked specifically to see if someone made them with the tortoise shell print too, but no dice. I really like these though!
Soooo this may seem like a shameless plug, and it kinda is, but I really think it’s important to give gifts around the holidays that are meaningful and personal. Buying real art is a great way to do that. In the past I’ve gone to Target or other big stores like that and bought paintings and pictures to decorate. Of course those places give lots of people jobs too, but none of those employees actually depend on you buying art to make ends meet each month. They didn’t make it. They don’t care. But actual artists– creative entrepreneurs tying to sell their work — care a ton!
You know you can find my work and custom orders on the homepage of this site, but I also wanted to include some other artists who are worth checking out. First is Clementine Sunshine, an old friend of mine who makes fantastically groovy art, cards, and now calendars! Another artist who is worth a peek if you like abstracted, beachy/pastel colored work is Tiel Duncan. And her prints are super affordable.
5: The gift of creativity
All the experts say that spending $$ on things don’t make us humans happy, but spending on experiences can. And we see this in our lives too. KonMarie showed us how to regain our joy and purge all of the excessive buildup that happens when we buy THINGS. At the same time, we also know that making art is totally therapeutic in this world of constant motion, it’s calming to sit down and create something.
I don’t know if you heard, but in April I created an art subscription box, Classy Artist Box, to help others prioritize artistic creativity. There are a few different box options for different age groups, a homeschool art curriculum, and a box option for adults. Originally it was only a subscription box– meaning you get boxes in the mail each month unless you cancel or pause your subscription. But recently I added a new option called ProjPacks that are a project you get as a one-time purchase. Each box comes with an exclusive online video lesson, written instructions, as well as all supplies needed to do the project (except water and a video viewing device). 😆
Here I am fulfilling some of our orders this month. It honestly brings me so much joy knowing I’m bringing art into the homes of so many lovely customers each month!
I’ll link our ProjPack video below too!
Anyway, I’ll stop rambling about it but I had to add it to my list of 5 things because I truly believe in this product and am so excited to share it!
