snakeskin blazer & pushing forward in stress

About this Blazer:

Can you tell I’m a fan of snakeskin?! Yes, it’s trending right now, but I have to say I love it no matter what! I never met an animal print I didn’t like as long as it’s done in a classic way! and what is more classic than this $22 blazer?! (ps. if you can’t find the blazer with my link, use search ID 628289).

Use code SH4131 for %15 off, no limitation, valid until march 31st, 2019!

Shein has one of the best selections of animal print that I’ve ever seen and this blazer is just one of the many items I own and love of theirs! Yes, I agree that if you’re looking for classic pieces on their site, sometimes you have to wade through a slew of neon, barely-there “party dresses,” but I’ll tell you it’s worth it!

My favorite way to search is from their homepage and go to the dropdown titled “CLOTHING” and “Blouses.” Then select from the “elegant” or “preppy” categories, though the casual section hosts many great options as well.

I also like to browse their “casual,” “maxi,” and “elegant” dresses because they have great options for everything from hot summer days to fancy weddings.

Speaking of animal prints, my Leopard Print *actual art print* is just $20 over on my shop!

Life lately:

Have you missed me? Yes, I’ve been a bit MIA, but it’s because I’m constantly working on a secret project. So far, I will say that it’s honestly the biggest, most difficult, most rewarding thing I’ve ever done in my entire life — other than motherhood. In my mind, I keep comparing the work I’m putting into it on the time and effort I spent on my Master’s degree, which scares me a little because that stress reminds me of grief.

If you knew me back when I lived in Sweden or afterward, you would know how important Sven was to me. He was an orange rag doll who behaved more like a dog than a cat, and I cared for him like a child. So when he suddenly passed away one Friday morning — in the midst of all of the work, writing, teaching, and research — I grieved very hard.

So now when I have times of intense stress, sometimes my mind reacts by feeling like it should go into grief or survival mode. Instead of focusing on the next steps I need to take, sometimes I start worrying about the what ifs and the future. I’m no psychologist, but I know that’s unhealthy and unbiblical. God’s Word tells us to not worry about anything… to not worry about things because God loves us even more than we imagine and He’s like a Father who wants us to run to Him so He can protect and teach us.

It’s a conscious decision for me to focus on my tasks at hand instead of worry, but I know it’s the right decision.

What makes you worry? How do you actively work to combat those negative thoughts and press on toward your goal?

Hello beauties! Tonight I wanted to share some of my mom-friendly outfit staples that have gotten me through the last few weeks of pregnancy. I’m now in my 8th month, have poor balance, am constantly hot, and feel like I can barely walk across the room so I absolutely NEED comfy clothes and practical shoes.
If you’re like me, the problem is, we don’t like practical looking anything! Thus, I searched high and low for some cute shoe options to wear & to show you gals! I know that some of you are thinking platforms = not practical, but for a heel-loving gal, these babies are the bee’s knees! Not only can I still chase my toddler in them, but I can also still balance myself with my giant prego belly. 😉 I haven’t even told you the best part about them– they are on sale for 1/2 off @ $25 right now!

The top and shorts are also very comfortable, but still stylish enough that I don’t feel like a complete fashion failure.
If you like the idea of the top I’m wearing, but you aren’t pregnant, I recommend trying a top with a cut more like this or this.  I love the prices of both and the cuts look like they would be very flattering on a few different body types.
The shorts are something RANDOM Beckett and I found at Walmart a few weeks ago. I actually have them in white and camo and I think every girl needs a pair for lazy/errand days when you want to feel like you’re in athletic wear, but still want to look slightly pulled together. They are $9 and STRETCH like crazy so I will be sporting these from now until after Baby Girl Witzke is born because they will fit me no matter what. I anticipate they will fit me next summer too, but we shall see.

About the posting schedule update:
The meal plans have been really fun, and I may continue them at a later date, but as of right now I need to figure out how to rework the format so it’s easier to read and follow. I also feel like there’s a limited number of those posts I want to do because I kinda like to have meals on rotation every month so if I were just doing this with my own family and not sharing it with you, I would keep rotating through the meal plans and recipes I already made.
So, for now, I am going to start using my Monday post to link to my latest artwork so you guys can see what I’m up to other than my tutorials on Wednesdays. I am also considering doing something different for Thursdays, but for now I will continue posting beauty or fashion-related vids for that.
Beckett’s really excited to start posting on Fridays again and he’s already getting his post for this week ready. As a sneak peek, I will tell you that we recently switched cell phone providers. Come back Friday to hear about our phone fiasco and why we put ourselves through it.
5 x Weekly Posting Schedule:
Monday: art listings and updates
Tuesday: my favorite fashion-related finds
Wednesday: Art tutorial vid
Thursday: Beauty or fashion related video
Friday: Finances for dummies (aka, us)

I adore Valentines as much as the next girl, but this year I’ve been feeling a little more casual than normal. So this year I’m thinkin’ the Casual & Girly vibe might be the route I take, but my style ideal would be Regal & Ladylike or Edgy & Sexy. What do you think? What’s your style ideal for V-Day?
Also, what are your V-Day plans? I feel like I always expect my husband to make the plans for that special day, but maybe I should this year…? What do you guys think about the girl planning the date? Or should the guy work for it? And then there’s the whole question of should I buy him flowers? Beckett actually likes flowers so I think I will get him some too this year even if he does plan our date. 🙂
